How Betterview handles candidate information during AI-assisted recruiting.
Last updated · August 2026Sensitive candidate and interview information is protected at rest and access is tenant-scoped.
Interview and candidate data is retained according to the recruiting organization’s configured policy and legal basis.
Your interview data stays protected and scoped to the hiring process.
Betterview processes candidate information only for authorized recruiting workflows. AI can assist with interviewing, transcription and structured review, but people make the final hiring decision.
Information we process
Depending on the hiring process, Betterview may process candidate identity details, job and application information, interview language, consent records, interview responses, transcripts, candidate corrections and structured recruiter assessments.
Audio may be captured during the interview to produce the transcript. Raw audio references are not retained after transcription persistence in the current Betterview workflow.
Why we process it
The information is used to operate the interview, transcribe answers, preserve candidate corrections, support structured recruiter review, maintain interview security and continuity, and provide evidence-backed hiring workflows.
AI-assisted interviewing
Mia is an AI interviewer. Betterview may use AI to present interview questions, transcribe responses and create structured recruiting signals for authorized recruiters.
AI output is decision support only. Betterview does not make the final hiring decision on behalf of the recruiting organization.
Security and access
Candidate and interview information is isolated by recruiting organization. Sensitive personal data, transcripts, corrections, assessment content and recruiter decision information are protected in storage.
Authorized access is separated between candidate-facing and recruiter-facing workflows. Candidates cannot access internal recruiter reports, internal prompts or scoring rules.
Retention and deletion
Retention periods are controlled by the recruiting organization’s configured policy and legal basis. Betterview includes lifecycle tooling for retention, erasure and personal-data export where authorized.
When personal data is erased, the system is designed to remove interview content, resumes, reports and other identifying recruiting data while preserving only minimal non-personal audit evidence where required for system integrity.
Your choices
Before the interview starts, you are shown the applicable consent and privacy notice. You can choose not to continue with the AI-assisted interview.
Where offered by the recruiting organization, you can request an alternative recruitment process from the interview experience.
